Position Overview

The Accounting Controller will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in support of a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP). This role is responsible for managing the accounting team, implementing financial controls, preparing reports, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and experience in scaling finance operations within a service-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with leadership to support budgeting, cash flow management, and strategic planning.
  • Manage audits, tax filings, and external financial relationships.
  • Implement process improvements and financial systems to support growth and efficiency.
  • Provide financial insights to guide executive decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience managing accounting operations for mid-sized organizations (100+ employees).
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the IT services or Managed Service Provider (MSP) industry.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite.
  • Strong background in process automation and financial efficiency initiatives.
  • Proven ability to support organizational growth and scalability.
  • Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-state payroll and tax compliance.
  • Demonstrated success in building and mentoring accounting teams.
