Location: Remote. Must be located near major airport hub for travel, prefer EST or CST time zone. Location preferences include Toledo, OH, Atlanta, GA, Austin, TX, and Columbia, MD. Must be based in the US. 
Travel %: Variable to client sites - up to 25% 
Position Type: Full-time 
Compensation Range: $110k - $140k

Job Overview: 

The Sales Engineer / Solutions Architect will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by providing technical expertise and consultative guidance throughout the sales process. This position requires a strong understanding of IT technologies and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise business value propositions for clients. 

Responsibilities/Job Functions: 

Technical Sales Support: 

  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand client requirements and identify appropriate technical solutions. 

  • Conduct technical needs assessments, including on-site visits when required. 

  • Develop and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients. 

  • Address technical questions and concerns raised by clients during the sales process. 

  • Prepare technical proposals and documentation, including system diagrams, network architectures, and solution overviews. 

Solution Architecture: 

  • Design and architect IT solutions that meet client business needs and technical requirements. 

  • Ensure that proposed solutions are aligned with VTG's service offerings and best practices. 

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain expertise in the latest solutions. 

Client Education: 

  • Educate clients on the benefits and value of VTG's technology solutions. 

  • Explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Build trust and credibility with clients through technical expertise and consultative guidance. 

Project Scoping & Planning: 

  • Assist in the scoping and planning of projects, ensuring smooth transitions from sales to implementation. 

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure successful project delivery. 

Teamwork & Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with the sales team to develop and execute effective sales strategies. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, support, and marketing, to ensure client satisfaction. 

  • Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to enhance team effectiveness. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or solutions architecture role within the IT industry.  

  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, virtualization, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, Azure) 

  • Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) 

  • Strong understanding of industry-specific technologies and solutions
